About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Embedded Software Development Manager to lead our software development team within the Avionics group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the global engineering activities for software development in support of new product development, legacy products, and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a Team of Software Engineers: You will lead a team of professional and technical engineering staff to provide software development for new product development, iR&D, and product support teams across our organization.
  • Organize and Build Talent: You will organize and build a talent base within the Avionics team, creating opportunities for growth and development of the engineering team.
  • Improve Efficiency: You will improve the efficiency of the software engineering functions through creative organizational management, effective use of engineering tools, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Consistency: You will drive consistency and best practices across the organization with respect to product documentation, design standards, and related material specifications.
  • Assure Product Competitiveness: You will assure that product designs are competitive on a global basis with respect to quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Collaborate with Centers of Excellence: You will work with Aerospace Group level and corporate level Centers of Excellence, including Pune, India, for a seamless product development, execution process, and organizational capability development.
  • Implement Best Practices: You will use best practices of robust design and promote the 'analysis first' mindset.
  • Establish Digital Processes: You will establish digital processes and experience within the engineering team aligned to the Aerospace Group strategy.
  • Monitor Performance: You will identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance, and implement improvements accordingly.
  • Maintain Liaison: You will maintain close liaison with the Operational Excellence organization to ensure high quality and year-over-year manufacturing cost reductions.
  • Develop Partnerships: You will establish and maintain contacts with universities to develop advanced products and potential new hires.
Requirements
  • Education: A degree in Engineering or Software and Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Ideally 8-10 years of experience within the aerospace industry, including experience in software development and verification for the managerial position.
  • Skills: Experience with software development and verification, knowledge and application of DO-178, embedded C experience, familiarity with Aerospace industry processes and standards, and familiarity with Aerospace AAR, Actuation, or Environmental systems and products.
