Role Overview
As a Subsea Drilling Services (SDS) Project Specialist, you will be accountable for the effective execution of assigned project packages, delivering engineered solutions to the SDS sector throughout the value chain, in alignment with TechnipFMC's QHSES corporate policies, contractual obligations, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily project tasks, providing progress updates to Project Managers, Lead Project Engineers, and Engineering Managers.
- Plan and present design solutions during formal Design Reviews and client meetings.
- Develop and assess technical documentation required for both internal and external stakeholders throughout the Value Stream (Commercial / Projects / Service Base).
- Offer engineering support to internal and external clients through collaboration across various business functions (Project Management, Planning, Quality, Sourcing & Procurement, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing).
- Promote Lean processes and product development enhancements through Lessons Learned, Root Cause Analysis, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies utilized within the SDS Engineering function.
- Ensure that engineering, requisitioning, procurement, subcontracting, expediting, testing, operations, and logistics activities in your area of responsibility are executed according to schedule, man-hours, equipment, and materials budget, as well as contractual specifications.
- Uphold QHSES corporate policies within your areas of responsibility.
Required Skills
Essential
- Proven aptitude in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to apply engineering skills throughout the product lifecycle.
- Proficiency in utilizing Engineering product databases, business ERP systems, and MS Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills that effectively identify root causes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with suppliers and clients, both internal and external.
Desirable
- Experience in subsea product design, particularly with Wellhead equipment.
- Application of skills in product enhancements, focusing on safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Aptitude in 3D modeling systems and/or mechanical/thermal/fluid analysis applications.
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities, such as cause mapping, 8D problem-solving, and A3 methodologies.
- Ability to leverage personal skills (verbal and written) to meet the demands of increasing responsibility and experience.
Competencies
Essential
- Ability to manage risks across multiple design tasks and approve the implementation of mitigations to fulfill project requirements.
- Support the review and application of client specifications, design reviews, quality matrix selection, part creation, QN disposition, ECN implementation, and the change review process.
- Identify and lead improvement initiatives independently or as part of a team.
- Possess a solid understanding of manufacturing processes utilized by the company in machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Recognize differences between client specifications, company interpretations, and industry standard code requirements during tendering, project execution, and for technical issues arising throughout design.
Desirable
- Ability to manage and mitigate risks across the project, including the management of interfaces with other subsystems.
- Capability to mentor others in the application of client specifications, design reviews, quality matrix selection, part creation, QN disposition, ECN implementation, and the change review process.
- Drive the resolution of technical challenges within engineering.
- Possess extensive knowledge across various manufacturing methods used by the company and within the industry.
- Have a broad understanding of various company and industry standards.
Qualifications
- BEng in Engineering or equivalent experience in engineering or related fields.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented and culturally diverse environment.
- Strong command of English.
