Job Summary:

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients, families, and carers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical support to patients, including assisting with personal care, mobility, and hygiene needs.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of medications, as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Conduct vital sign observations, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, and report any abnormalities to the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with the collection and processing of patient samples, including blood and urine specimens.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring patient-centered care.
  • Participate in handover and report any changes or concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication skills, ensuring clear and respectful interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment, undertaking a range of clinical commitments.
  • Indepth understanding of the healthcare support worker role.
  • Effective communication and customer care skills.
  • Able to work using own initiative, following instructions from a Registered Nurse.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Phlebotomy skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working in an acute care environment, undertaking a range of clinical commitments.
  • Experience of working in more than one specialty within an acute care environment.
  • Undertake ECG recordings.
  • Ability to demonstrate care skills to more junior healthcare support workers.
  • Cannulation experience.
