We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Precast Technical Solutions team at Laing O'Rourke PLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading structural engineering input on tenders and pre-construction service agreements for Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) projects across building structures, facades, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Conceptualize and develop innovative structural designs for precast components, ensuring feasibility and efficiency in manufacturing, transportation, and installation.
- Provide tender RIBA Stage 2/3 structural design assessments for cost allowances, utilizing our CEMC product set.
- Take a proactive approach to determining the best solution for engineering problems, delivering efficiencies and savings in carbon and material.
- Maintain awareness of ongoing product development and provide input to ensure effective development of existing products and introduction of new products.
- Consider the full lifecycle of each product, ensuring all precast elements can be safely and efficiently manufactured, stored, transported, and installed.
- A passion for leading the industry through structural design innovation and excellence.
- Self-motivated and proactive individual capable of leading activity and working under own initiative.
- Good problem-solving skills and confidence to enforce safe designs.
- Reinforced concrete design experience.
- Experience in using CAD packages, including Revit, and a willingness to extend learning in this area.
- Knowledge in the use of design and analysis programs (e.g. TEDDS, Scia Engineer) is beneficial to the role.
- Degree-level Engineering education; Chartered Structural Engineer or working towards within 24 months.
- At least 4 years' experience in a structural design engineer role.
