Transport UK Rail Replacement is a specialist service provider to the UK Rail Industry, offering a fully managed service for the provision of coaches, buses, small vehicles, and taxis during planned engineering work or emergency incidents.

As a Duty Manager, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing rail replacement activities for EMR, based in Derby Control Centre.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing schedules and compiling duties using the Bus Replacement Allocation System (BRAS)
  • Liaising with Coach/Bus Operators and procuring relevant vehicles for Rail Replacement work
  • Compiling coordinator duties and arranging rosters
  • Processing and maintaining support documentation - Pace notes and risk assessments
  • Building and establishing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing emergency cover on a rotational basis, including staffing the 24-hour emergency hotline, arranging vehicles (out of hours), and delivering the service
  • Overseeing delivery of pre-planned and emergency operations, as required
  • Ensuring a duty of care for the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues at all times, including reporting unsafe acts or omissions to safety

The Candidate

  • An individual who can develop effective working relations with suppliers and colleagues
  • Someone who can handle high-pressure situations in a calm and logical manner
  • Desirable: previous experience administering logistics or passenger transport
  • The posts involve working 12 hours per day, based on 4 days working and 4 days rest, covering Early, Late, and Night shift patterns
