Job Title: Legal Counsel

CMC Markets is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team in London. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a critical role in delivering our business objectives and providing high-quality legal advice to our internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head of Legal and Senior Management Team in delivering business objectives
  • Provide capital markets, trading-related, and commercial advice to internal teams
  • Draft and negotiate various trade and share-related contracts, including client-facing terms of business, capital raising documentation, and prime brokerage documents
  • Contribute to the provision of a high-quality legal service to the CMC business
  • Liaise with global legal colleagues to ensure important information is shared
  • Monitor and track key legal and commercial risks
  • Monitor legal updates and share relevant information with the legal team
  • Identify and action key process, procedure, and systems improvements within the legal team
  • Assist the Compliance Team with responses to complaints, financial promotions, regulatory issues, and rule changes
  • Review marketing content in conjunction with the Compliance Team
  • Assist the Operations Team with project work relating to the CMC trading platform
  • Provide legal support and advice to CMC's overseas branches and offices
  • Ensure changes to CMC's terms of business globally are compliant with local regulation and law
  • Assist with the expansion of CMC's global businesses and cross-border considerations
  • Protect CMC's intellectual property rights and prevent IP infringements
  • Mitigate legal risk and address issues in accordance with best practice
  • Manage external advisers to best effect, keeping costs to a minimum
  • Have a thorough understanding of the financial services industry and its issues
  • Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role
  • Provide a clear, fair, and high-quality service to customers, clients, and colleagues
  • Ensure confidentiality and undertake other duties as required
Key Skills and Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience as a solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent experience in other jurisdictions)
  • Prior litigation or dispute resolution experience or data privacy experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organisation, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
