Maintenance Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at KPI Recruiting Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of our plant, while driving improvements across the site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Health, Safety, and Quality: Follow site procedures related to quality, environmental, and health & safety systems.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve plant operations, processes, and the working environment, collaborating across departments.
  • Contractor Management: Assist in monitoring external contractors and ensuring compliance with site rules.
  • Plant Inspections: Conduct regular plant inspections and audits.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly to unscheduled plant stoppages to minimize downtime.
  • Maintenance Management: Utilise system for recording labor, materials, and performing planned maintenance tasks (PPM/PdM).
  • Equipment Repair: Safely and efficiently repair plant equipment and services.
  • Maintenance Efficiency: Participate in maintaining the overall efficiency of the maintenance department, including tool management, housekeeping, and spare parts control.
  • Call-out Program: Be part of the maintenance call-out program.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose and resolve plant/process defects using Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Budget Management: Work within budget guidelines and seek cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Safety Culture: Engage in and promote a Safety-First culture.
  • Personal Development: Identify and pursue personal development and training opportunities.
  • Best Practices: Share and implement best practices within a food manufacturing environment.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Customer Focus: A strong customer focus, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, and be reliable and punctual.
  • Health and Safety: Essential: Health and Safety awareness.
  • Food Safety: Desirable: Food Safety awareness.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an operational environment (preferably FMCG, food, or beverage).
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer use.
  • Qualifications: A recognized engineering apprenticeship and formal qualification.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with mechanical drive couplings, chains, belts, and bearings.
  • Industrial Systems: Experience with industrial 3-phase motor control systems and PLCs.
  • Pneumatic Systems: Knowledge of pneumatic control systems, compressed air systems, and steam-raising plants.
