The Haematology department is seeking dedicated individuals to join our multidisciplinary team, focusing on the care of patients undergoing treatment for blood disorders. You will play a crucial role in supporting the acute assessment of patients, ensuring their timely management and admission. This position is ideal for those looking to develop their skills in Clinical Haematology, with potential pathways towards further training in Haematology or Oncology.

The role includes exposure to outpatient clinics, allowing you to gain valuable experience in both malignant and non-malignant haematology, as well as participation in diagnostic procedures based on your interests. Previous team members have successfully advanced their careers in Oncology and Haematology.

Main Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include providing medical support for both inpatient and outpatient haematology services, participating in the Acute Oncology service, and engaging in various clinical activities.

This position will require you to work across multiple sites, ensuring comprehensive care for patients. Weekend on-call duties will also be part of the role, focusing on the haematology ward.

Detailed Responsibilities


• Deliver inpatient care for haematology patients, including those with acute leukaemia and those receiving intensive chemotherapy.


• Engage in the Acute Oncology Service, providing assessment, advice, and intervention for patients undergoing chemotherapy.


• Conduct outpatient clinic reviews and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.


• Assist with transfusion medicine and perform bone marrow biopsies.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

GMC registration Minimum of 2 years post-registration clinical experience Basic Life Support certification

Desirable Criteria

MRCP or progress towards it Completion of Good Clinical Practice Training Advanced Communication Skills training Advanced Life Support certification
