Job Title: KS1 SEN Class Teacher in ASD Centre - Maternity Cover

Job Summary:

The Smallberry Green Primary School is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Primary Education Specialist to join our team as a KS1 SEN Class Teacher in our ASD Centre on a 1-year fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Deliver high-quality teaching to pupils assigned to the teacher, ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
    • Model the ethos and core values of the school while teaching pupils, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Contribute to the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work, policies, and teaching strategies within the school.
    • Effectively utilize staff supporting teaching and learning in the classroom, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Teach pupils according to their educational needs, implementing and following school policies and procedures as approved by the Governors and SLT.
    • Set targets for pupils based on prior attainment, providing a supportive learning environment where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils.
    • Participate in the appraisal process for the evaluation of their own performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives, promoting a culture of mutual respect and support.
    • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues, ensuring open and transparent dialogue.
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with best practices and research in primary education.
    • Contribute to the school's professional learning community, sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Strong knowledge of primary education curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
