Job Title: Lead OCS Engineer

Morson Talent is seeking a highly skilled Lead OCS Engineer to join our team on a major High Speed Rail project. This is a permanent position offering flexible working arrangements as a hybrid role with 3 days working from home and 2 days required in the client's office in Birmingham or London.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a technical leader with expertise in Overhead Catenary System (OCS) engineering to provide assurance that the design and construction of OCS assets meet project requirements. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory and legislative frameworks relevant to High Speed Rail and be able to provide specialist technical support and leadership to project development and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and professional leadership for OCS engineering, ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead on the application of standards and technical requirements for the discipline, providing assurance that design and construction meet project needs.
  • Provide specialist technical support and leadership to project development and delivery teams, ensuring that OCS engineering principles are applied correctly.
  • Manage competing project and engineering demands, with cost and schedule implications, to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer or membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering and safety standards, activity on large complex major projects/programmes within a complex infrastructure delivery programme.
  • Commercial awareness, including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets, and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
  • Understanding of other railway systems and civil disciplines.
