About the Role

Cancer Research UK is seeking a skilled Registered Adult Nurse to join our Cancer Awareness in the Workplace (CAW) team. As a Bank Nurse, you will provide vital contingency cover for our nurse-led face-to-face cancer awareness and health promotion activities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver face-to-face cancer awareness activities for people at their place of work, providing information on cancer prevention and early detection.
  • Support the Cancer Awareness Roadshow, engaging with the public in indoor and outdoor community settings through individual conversations.
  • Represent Cancer Research UK in a positive and professional manner, ensuring all information shared aligns with our core messages.
  • Collect and input data for evaluation purposes, contributing to general feedback and ensuring familiarity with local health information sheets.
Requirements
  • Registered Adult Nurse with NMC registration, mandatory for this role.
  • Interest in or experience of health promotion, practice nursing, occupational health, health visiting, district/community nursing, or other relevant qualification/experience.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage people in conversation and use motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Strong oral presentation skills, with the ability to convey clear and accurate information confidently and pitched appropriately for the audience.
  • A clear understanding of boundaries and the importance of adhering to data protection and compliance policies.
  • Experience in delivering public-facing work, with a good understanding of engaging hard-to-reach groups and addressing health inequalities.
  • Excellent written, administration, and organisation skills, with the ability to keep accurate confidential records.
