About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant General Manager to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). This is a key position within our management structure, and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing teams to provide day-to-day services, as well as having key project, performance, governance, business planning, strategic, and transformational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the General Manager in the delivery of a high-quality service to patients, consultants, and clinical teams.
  • Manage teams to provide day-to-day services, including operational management, people management, and financial management.
  • Develop and implement service improvement initiatives, including the use of recognised techniques.
  • Work closely with clinical and divisional teams to achieve key performance targets.
  • Deputise for the General Manager as required.
Requirements
  • Significant operational service management experience.
  • Experience of people management, financial management, and change management.
  • Sound understanding of NHS structures and financial flows.
  • Ability to work effectively with clinical teams and communicate, negotiate, and influence skills.
  • Intermediate data analysis skills with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage own workload and that of others in a highly pressurised environment.
