Medical Grants Funding Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Grants Funding Lead to join our External Funding team at UCB. This global role requires a subject matter expert who can lead the review and approval of grant funding requests.

The Medical Grants Funding Lead will be responsible for utilizing deep knowledge of regulations, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements to ensure grant funding(s) are aligned to UCB strategic priorities, scientific/medical merit, and patient wellbeing and safety.

This role involves working closely with Medical and Leadership teams to understand relevant medical strategies and goals. The Medical Grants Funding Lead will lead the assessment of grant submissions (globally) for potential funding by UCB, design and manage external grant funding requests globally, and ensure alignment to annual grant plans and UCB strategic priorities.

The successful candidate will act as the UCB subject matter expert on funding processes and global categorizations (grants, sponsorships, and donations). They will guide internal and external stakeholders on funding processes and ensure appropriate categorization in accordance with UCB and regulatory requirements.

The Medical Grants Funding Lead will conduct relevant review committee meetings, maintain meeting minutes, and engage with internal and external stakeholders. They will also coach and mentor funding specialists on best practices, key grant fundamentals, and proactively identify areas for process and system improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing grant opportunities based on scientific merit and alignment to company strategies
  • Designing and managing external grant funding requests globally
  • Leading the review and approval process for grant funding requests
  • Acting as the UCB subject matter expert on funding processes and global categorizations
  • Coaching and mentoring funding specialists on best practices and key grant fundamentals
