About the Role:

Thorn Baker Group is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a leading masonry specialist, they require a professional with a proven track record of assisting both large and small, award-winning house builders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of project contracts and framework agreements, ensuring project costs accurately reflect these.
  • Prepare project costs using agreed Schedules of Rates, built-up net costs, sub-contractors' quotes, and agreed mark-up for general overhead, indirect overhead, direct overhead, risk, and profit.
  • Issue sub-contract and purchase orders accurately, on time, and in line with project contract requirements.
  • Monitor and negotiate sub-contract variations to agreement, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Identify and highlight risk, working with the project team to eliminate or reduce it.
  • Prepare accurate project Cost Value Reconciliations and report these at staged valuations and final account.
  • Attend site meetings as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification: HND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management.
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience within the last 8 years.
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive team player, with a positive attitude and practical approach.
