About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Keoghs' Complex Injury Claims Team as a Catastrophic Injury Claims Specialist. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex injury claims, working closely with senior claims handlers and counsel to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including claims valued up to £10m and beyond.
  • Communicate effectively with sophisticated insurer clients, advising on all aspects of claims and keeping them updated on progress.
  • Develop relationships with Keoghs' clients to build trust and confidence in your expertise.
  • Conduct thorough liability investigations, preserving levers for interim payments, care claims, and statutory funding issues.
  • Draw on expert evidence, medical records, and other sources to ensure experts consider all relevant details.
  • Think strategically about issues impacting catastrophic claims, translating complex medical evidence into meaningful differences.
  • Use Ogden Tables to assess quantum, building complex illustrative spreadsheets to determine life expectancy and split multipliers.
  • Engage with counsel and experts in conference and on the telephone, attending site visits, MDT meetings, client meetings, mediation, and JSMs.
  • Deliver agreed performance targets and quality standards, recording a minimum of 7 chargeable hours per day.
  • Delegate tasks to junior team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical ability and achievement of objectives.
  • Maintain case management systems with up to date management information for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations.
Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven relevant legal experience is essential.
  • Significant experience in handling or assisting upon large loss or catastrophic injury files is required.
  • Defendant experience is preferable, but Claimant experience at a sufficient level of expertise and seniority will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant insurance principles, case law, and litigation practice and process.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads on complex cases, with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to weigh facts, apply the law, and make decisions, anticipating problems and identifying solutions.
  • Driven to achieve and take development opportunities, with a positive attitude and calm under pressure.
