About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team at Dyer & Butler. As a key member of our infrastructure maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our road network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely, adhering to company standards and regulations.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate a range of plant, tools, and equipment to complete tasks, maintaining a high standard of equipment care.
  • Traffic Management: Install traffic management systems under instruction, following method statements to ensure minimal disruption to road users.
  • Winter and Emergency Services: Participate in winter and emergency service duties as required, including gritting and emergency response.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including drivers' hours, timesheets, and job feedback notes.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure vehicles are clean, tidy, and correctly loaded, with waste materials managed and disposed of properly.
  • Supporting Events: Assist in responding to weather-related or emergency events, such as flooding prevention, debris clearance, and emergency road closures.
Requirements
  • HGV Class C Driving Licence: Possess a valid HGV Class C driving licence or be willing to invest in training during the probationary period.
  • Manual and Outdoor Work: Experience working in a similar role or environment, undertaking manual and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Highway Maintenance Experience: Preference given to candidates with experience in highway maintenance.
  • Full UK Driving Licence: Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • CSCS Card: Possess a CSCS card or be willing to obtain one.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop within the role, with flexibility to work in different locations and environments.
