About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 1 HGV driver to join our team as a Tramper. As a Tramper, you will be responsible for collecting and delivering customers' products on a curtain-sided trailer, using ratchet straps to secure loads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Starting as a cover driver and once experienced, and availability arises, a permanent vehicle will be issued.
  • Collecting and delivering customers' products on a curtain-sided trailer, including load security using ratchet straps.
  • Delivering loads throughout the UK, both full and groupage loads.
  • Using a handheld PDA to complete paperwork.
  • Dealing with customers face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Keeping in regular contact with the transport team for updates on progress and managing our customers' expectations.
  • This will include nights away.
  • Attending regular training sessions.

Essential Skills:

  • Must hold a UK HGV Class 1 CE Licence.
  • Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
  • Be passionate about providing excellent customer service.
  • Working to deadlines.
  • Confident, polite, and a team player.
  • Good geographical knowledge.
  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated.

  • Basic salary for Class 1 Tramper is £39,000 per annum, plus up to £4,000 per annum tax-free night out allowance.
  • This is a permanent full-time holiday cover position.
  • Shifts available are Monday-Saturday or Sunday-Friday, with start times between 06:00hrs and 07:00hrs.
  • Enhanced rates available for working weekends.
  • £70 every 5 years for HGV Medical.
