Job Description:

MEICA Engineer - Mechanical Design Specialist

Scantec Recruitment is seeking an experienced MEICA Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. As a Mechanical Design Specialist, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs, creating and refining design drawings, and leading the design of wastewater M&E assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Mechanical Designs: Create P&ID, HAZOP studies, hazard assessments, and design risk assessments for mechanical designs.
  • Design Drawings: Refine mechanical and civil design drawings to meet project requirements.
  • Wastewater M&E Assets: Lead the design of wastewater M&E assets, including pumping stations, CSOs, and related civil structures.
  • Equipment Selection: Select and size equipment, such as pumps, mixers, and pipework, to meet project specifications.
  • Tender and Subcontract Documentation: Provide technical input for tender and subcontract documentation.
  • Subcontractor Management: Conduct pre-start subcontractor meetings, outline project expectations, and manage ongoing communication.
  • Project Progress: Assess project forecasts and track progress to completion.
  • On-Site Activities: Manage on-site activities, including mechanical isolation, approval of mechanical RAMS, and sign-off on mechanical testing and inspections.
  • Quality Control: Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure quality control.
  • Cost-to-Complete and Budget Reviews: Collaborate with contract delivery teams on cost-to-complete and budget reviews.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Negotiations: Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best terms for the project.
  • Project Programmes: Prepare and manage detailed project programmes and ensure alignment with subcontractor schedules.

Qualifications:

  • HNC or Higher: HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly within wastewater or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong Knowledge: Strong knowledge of P&ID development, equipment sizing, and selection for M&E assets. Experience with TMA, NRSWA coordination is advantageous.
  • Subcontractor Management: Experience in managing subcontractors, coordinating site activities, and ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • HAZOP, RAMS, and Quality Control: Familiarity with HAZOP, RAMS approval, and quality control processes, including inspection and test plans.
