Job Title:

Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

Amentum is a premier global technical and engineering services partner. We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team permanently located in the Aldermaston area.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a team of discipline engineers and/or engineering design subcontractors, planning work activities, estimates, and schedules, and reporting progress.
  2. Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, construction, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse mechanical structures, systems, and components.
  3. Act as a lead on design, analysis, or review teams on complex engineering assignments.
  4. Generate complete design specifications for complex projects.
  5. Organize and supervise a group of employees or subcontracted engineers for a given project, contract, or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical, and employee performance.
  6. Train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing, and analysis of engineering assignments.
  7. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  8. Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  9. Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  10. Conduct site visits, investigations, and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  11. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and procedures.
  12. Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  13. Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
Requirements:
  1. Ideal degree educated in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  2. Chartered or working towards chartered Mechanical Engineer status.
  3. Proven experience leading a Design team.
  4. General mechanical handling and equipment experience.
  5. Experience with Nuclear glovebox design, modification, and decommissioning is an advantage.
  6. Experience of safety case justification.
  7. Sound knowledge of building regulations and planning submissions.
  8. Experience of CDM regulations.
Security Clearance:

You will be eligible for UK SC security clearance.
