Planner
Location: East Midlands
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Planner to become part of the team at Galliford Try.
This is a full-time, permanent position focused on projects throughout the East Midlands and Northern Home Counties. The Regional Office operates under an Agile Working policy, allowing all Planners to engage in multiple tender, pre-construction, and live projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive construction planning services at pre-qualification, pre-construction, and construction phases, adhering to Galliford Try's Planning Processes and Procedures.
- Provide full life-cycle planning support for various projects, including tenders, pre-construction, and live projects.
- Review documentation, specifications, and scopes to identify contract requirements and significant constraints.
- Develop detailed tender programmes, method statements, and logistics proposals for inclusion in tender submissions.
- Create outline plans and methodologies during the tender phase.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and constraints relevant to preparing tender programmes and method statements.
- Represent the company during tender and contract interviews, presentations, and meetings.
- Produce detailed, fully integrated design, procurement, and construction stage Contract Programmes.
- Identify alternative methodologies or sequences that enhance project completion timelines.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and third parties to establish optimal, compliant programmes.
- Monitor and report on progress for pre-construction and live projects, anticipating potential delays and advising on mitigation strategies.
- Develop Construction, Completion, and Mitigation Programmes at relevant project stages while maintaining contract integrity.
- Update contract programmes to demonstrate entitlement to Extensions of Time (EOT), as applicable.
- Assist the Business in claims and/or disputes.
- Support and mentor junior team members as needed.
- Ensure programme content and functionality comply with Galliford Try's Planning Processes and Procedures.
Candidate Profile:
- Experience in Main Contractor Planning (essential).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Proficiency in Power Project (formerly Asta) – essential.
- Experience in Defence, Custodial, Healthcare, or Education sectors (desirable).
- Working knowledge of both NEC and JCT Contracts (desirable).
