Crisis Management Operator

Job Overview
Are you capable of maintaining composure during emergencies? Can you evaluate risks and make swift decisions?
Do you possess empathy and kindness when assisting individuals in distress?
We seek individuals who can support the public during potentially life-altering situations.
The Staffordshire Police Headquarters Force Control Room is in search of dedicated individuals to contribute to our mission of enhancing community safety.
What We Offer:
- Salary Range: £33,000 - £40,000 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of a 20% shift allowance and 14.21% for weekend work, which may vary based on specific role responsibilities.
- Shift Patterns: Covering a 24/7 operation; rotating shifts that include evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Employee Benefits: Comprehensive pension scheme, on-site gym facilities, staff dining options, free parking, Blue Light card, and numerous additional perks.
This role demands a commitment to a 24/7 operational environment, so please consider this when applying.
As a member of the Force Control Room, your responsibilities will include ensuring that all emergency and non-emergency calls are answered efficiently and professionally, as well as dispatching officers to incidents via radio communication.
You will collaborate with our response and neighborhood policing teams, utilizing advanced technology and communication systems to ensure public safety and effective response to various incidents.
For many individuals, you will serve as the initial point of contact with law enforcement. Your role will involve being a calm and reassuring presence during critical moments, asking pertinent questions, listening for crucial details, and accurately documenting information.
Being a Force Control Room Operator is not a conventional 9-to-5 job. You will handle emergency calls, non-emergency inquiries, and digital communications, including online crime reporting and social media interactions. In return, we offer a competitive starting salary, extensive training opportunities, and the fulfillment that comes from aiding others.
Training Program:
The initial training consists of a 4-week classroom-based program, during which new recruits will complete various IT courses and receive training in risk assessment and investigative standards. Following this, you will begin taking calls with guidance from experienced mentors and will be assigned to a shift schedule within 2 to 4 months.
Starting your career in our Force Control Centre will equip you with a diverse skill set and valuable experiences. There are also opportunities for professional development, such as becoming a Tutor or Mentor, or receiving additional training on specialized topics to support fellow team members.
Additional Information:
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, as we believe that varied perspectives enhance our decision-making and drive innovation.
Our vacancies are open to all qualified candidates, and selections are made based on merit and achievements. We actively encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups.
We utilize positive action initiatives to support potential candidates from diverse communities through targeted assistance and guidance.
