Specialist Pharmacist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Specialist Pharmacist for Biologics. The successful candidate will provide expert advice on biologic medicines to clinical areas within the Trust, including prescribers, clinicians, nursing staff, and patients.
About the RoleThe Specialist Pharmacist for Biologics will lead and provide a high-quality and safe medicines optimisation program with respect to the use of biologics and other high-cost medicines across the Trust. This will involve coordinating and implementing biosimilar switches, reviewing patient treatment against agreed criteria, and providing assurance on formulary compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist pharmacist advice on biologic medicines to clinical areas within the Trust.
- Lead and provide a high-quality and safe medicines optimisation program for biologics and high-cost medicines.
- Coordinate and implement biosimilar switches and review patient treatment against agreed criteria.
- Provide assurance on formulary compliance for the relevant specialty area.
- Work closely with pharmacy homecare to validate prescriptions, reduce waste, and facilitate brand changes.
- Minimise medicines wastage by developing and implementing efficient working systems.
The successful candidate will be a highly self-motivated and experienced pharmacist with excellent leadership skills and the ability to plan and work independently and as part of the wider healthcare team. They will have a strong understanding of biologic medicines and their use in clinical practice, as well as experience in medicines optimisation and formulary management.
