Clinical/Counselling Psychologist Specialist
2 months ago
Position Overview
Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to enhance our growing psychological therapies team. This specialized role is situated within the acute care pathway, bridging the Home Treatment Team and the Mental Health Emergency Assessment Centre.
The Acute Psychology Pathway delivers integrated, high-quality, and psychologically-informed care to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges, including psychosis, complex emotional difficulties, and PTSD. The selected candidate will be instrumental in the urgent evaluation of individuals presenting to acute services and in crafting innovative, multidisciplinary care strategies to assist these individuals outside of hospital settings. They will also provide psychological interventions that ensure continuity of care from acute to community services.
The successful candidate may interact with patients or service users. As part of our commitment to safety, we advocate for vaccination as a primary means of safeguarding oneself, family, colleagues, and patients in healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder will be expected to lead the ongoing enhancement of Harrow's Trauma-Informed Approaches (TIA) model within adult mental health services. This model has been successfully implemented in Harrow's acute services over the past six years and has recently influenced national policy.
The Harrow Home Treatment Team and Mental Health Emergency Centre collaborate closely with inpatient wards and the Community Mental Health Hub, creating a cohesive system that provides comprehensive support to adults facing mental health challenges.
The post-holder will function as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, offering consultation, collaboration, training, supervision, and research, while also developing targeted training to improve the systematic delivery of psychological interventions by all team members within a 'stepped-care' framework.
Specialized supervision is available in EMDR, DBT, NET, CBT, Open Dialogue, CAT, systemic, and psychodynamic approaches.
About the Organization
Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive NHS services throughout an individual's life, encompassing both physical and mental health care, from general practitioners and hospitals to community settings and home care.
Our services predominantly operate within the community, focusing on treating individuals in their homes or nearby clinics. This modern approach aligns with the NHS's Long Term Plan, which emphasizes improved integration and coordination of care delivered as close to home as feasible.
When community care is not viable, we offer various facilities for treatment in hospital or residential settings. Additionally, we provide healthcare services in prisons across London and surrounding areas.
Partnerships are fundamental to our operations—collaborating with patients and their families, staff, and other organizations, including commissioners, providers, local authorities, general practitioners, universities, and the voluntary sector. We anticipate expanding these partnerships in the future.
We are dedicated to delivering services that address the needs of those we serve and actively encourage involvement from local individuals who can contribute to meaningful change.
