About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract and Commercial Manager to join our team at AESC UK. As a key member of our Industrial Construction team, you will play a crucial role in procuring equipment and materials for large-scale production lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement equipment purchasing strategies for the construction phase
  • Develop bulk purchasing strategies for project approval
  • Draft purchase and material management plans
  • Stress test contractor purchase strategies against best practices
  • Implement worldwide, regional, and country agreements to consolidate suppliers and spend
Logistics and Delivery
  • Develop a plan to ensure timely delivery of all items, especially long-lead and critical path items
  • Work with freight forwarders to ensure all key export/import/transient documents and permits are in place and correct
  • Provide input to cost estimators and cost controllers regarding freight
  • Organize detailed delivery of all key items if not being handled by the contractor
  • Monitor and report delivery of all items to ensure none become critical, especially long-lead and critical path
Purchasing and Vendor Management
  • Identify and qualify potential vendors
  • Maintain and pre-qualify vendors from a financial health point of view
  • Interface with central procurement to ensure effective purchasing strategy and use of low-cost contracts
  • Issue RFQs and purchase orders
  • Support the purchase order closeout process, including reconciliation of material receipts, billings, changes, and payments
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Engineering
  • Graduate studies in project management or business administration
  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing areas of large industrial construction projects
  • Additional experience in project controls or construction management preferred
  • Hi-tech, construction, and/or automotive industry experience
  • Strategic sourcing, opportunity analyses, and contract negotiations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power BI
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with challenging timelines and goals
