The Role:

To support the Procurement Lead in achieving the overall objectives of the Procurement function and delivering an effective and efficient service to GEM Partnerships. This involves working collaboratively with various teams, including Corporate Services, IT, and Legal Services, to ensure a cohesive approach to procurement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Procurement Lead with procurement activities across all business category areas.
  • Work with the Supplier and Governance team to implement a "One Procurement Team" approach.
  • Provide proactive and responsive procurement advice and services, particularly in relation to tendering, negotiation procedures, and whole life cost principles.
  • Prepare for and attend partnership meetings to ensure stakeholders feel supported and understand their role in the procurement process.
  • Provide procurement services on tenders over £120K, including advertising such tenders where appropriate.
  • Comply with the procurement strategy, policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
  • Participate in annual spend analysis to determine priorities and create strategic sourcing strategies for high spend areas.
  • Contribute to the monthly report as requested by the Procurement Lead.
  • Ensure corporate, social, and environmentally responsible issues are considered in all procurement activities.
The Person:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced procurement professional who:

  • Is educated to CIPS level 6 (Graduate Diploma) or actively working towards this standard or an equivalent qualification.
  • Has evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Has a good understanding of project management methodology and its application in a procurement context.
  • Has financial and commercial awareness.
  • Has knowledge of contract buying and tender procedures.
  • Has a good understanding of contract law and the ability to draft contracts with minimal support from legal professionals.
