Position Overview
We are seeking a Specialist Consultant in Pediatric Cardiology with a focus on advanced echocardiography to enhance our Pediatric Cardiology Service. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering high-quality cardiac care for children and involves collaboration across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
This full-time position encompasses 10 programmed activities, with opportunities for additional involvement. The successful candidate will:
- Engage with the pediatric cardiology team, providing inpatient and outpatient services.
- Conduct specialized echocardiographic procedures, including transesophageal echocardiography and advanced imaging techniques.
- Participate in the governance of echocardiography services, emphasizing quality assurance and educational initiatives.
- Support the development of the pediatric congenital heart network.
- Be available for on-call duties related to general pediatric cardiology.
About the Organization
The Pediatric Cardiology Services operate within a collaborative framework across multiple hospitals, dedicated to meeting the standards set by healthcare authorities for congenital cardiac care. Our team comprises a diverse group of cardiologists specializing in various subfields, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
Professional Qualifications
Essential:
- Current GMC Registration with a License to Practice.
- MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent qualifications.
- Eligibility for GMC Specialist Registration in Pediatrics or Pediatric Cardiology.
- Accreditation in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography.
Desirable:
- Engagement in a higher degree program.
Clinical Experience and Skills
Essential:
- A minimum of four years of experience in a pediatric cardiac surgical environment.
- Demonstrated subspecialty training in congenital cardiac imaging, particularly echocardiography.
- Ability to manage independent outpatient clinics.
- Experience in advanced echocardiographic assessments.
Desirable:
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals related to pediatric cardiology and echocardiography.
- Experience in outreach pediatric cardiac services.
Research and Teaching
The candidate should have experience in presenting at professional meetings and a background in teaching medical students and junior staff.
Leadership and Management Skills
Strong communication skills, the ability to lead and make informed decisions, and a commitment to team collaboration are essential for this role.
