About the Role
Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our dynamic team on our acute admission wards. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care to patients, working autonomously to deliver physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual care.
- Ensure basic needs are met, overseeing activities for nutrition, hydration, hygiene, comfort, emotional, and social support.
- Coordinate patient-centered care, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) on care plans and ensuring feedback and improvement.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing clear information about care.
- Work positively with the MDT and partner organizations, promoting a safe and therapeutic working environment.
- Administer medication, monitor side effects, and ensure patient compliance.
- Maintain a safe environment, ensuring safe medication storage, sharps disposal, and clinical equipment use.
- Develop and execute care plans under Registered Nurse supervision, collecting data, tracking patient progress, and generating reports.
- Lead junior staff, guiding them in providing hands-on care, including patient engagement, patient respect and dignity, care plan creation, monitoring vital signs, promoting healthy lifestyles, and recovery-focused activities.
- Facilitate admissions and discharges, ensuring patient and service needs are met, including required documentation.
- Champion patient needs and rights within trust policy, empowering patients to manage their care.
