About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal HV Cable Design Engineer to join our Energy Networks team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering outstanding projects and contributing to the success of our clients in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a lead cable engineer in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of our clients.
  • Deliver concept design, FEED, feasibility, and detailed design projects and bids for clients, utilizing your expertise in HV cable system design and ratings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement project plans, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and converting opportunities into successful workstreams.
  • Participate in industry working groups, such as CIGRE and IEEE, to stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Chartered Engineer through the IET is desirable.
  • Experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of HV cables for use in HVAC and HVDC projects, both onshore and offshore.
  • Experience in HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP).
  • Understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, its suite of technical specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Experience of witnessing 3rd party cable activities, such as testing, installation, and transportation.
  • Experience of large, technically complex cable projects.
  • Experience of working groups and technical committees, such as CIGRE and IEEE.
