Business Operations Manager

Our client is responsible for the management, operation, maintenance, and administration of the two crossings over the River Tamar – Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry. With 44,000 vehicles passing through every day, they play a crucial role in the local infrastructure, connecting Plymouth, Devon, and South East Cornwall.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the Bridge Control Centre and operational support service partners to maintain minimum operating/service resilience standards and major incident management.
- Monitor the effectiveness of dedicated bridge control systems and processes, including toll collection interfaces, lane control, environmental monitoring systems, and CCTV networks.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to optimize service delivery, encouraging innovation, forward thinking, and positive change management.
- Ensure appropriate facilities and security/fire management systems are in place for the Bridge Office, grounds, and public spaces.
- Level 5 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject, e.g., logistics, transport, or business management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently lead by example, coaching, and mentoring employees.
- Significant experience in managing staff performance, setting improvement objectives, and delivery of appraisals.
- Procurement of goods and services, including supervising consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Managing budgets, planning, and forecasting.
- Working with and setting staff rotas.
- A high level of accurate and objective reporting, with complimentary writing ability, including a strong competency in using MS Office software.
