About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging individual to join our team as a Befriender. As a Befriender, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, to realise their goals and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals, engaging in activities that promote social interaction and personal growth.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Support individuals in achieving their goals and aspirations, promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure a holistic approach to support, addressing physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, ensuring best practice in support delivery.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals and their families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and respond to changing needs and circumstances.
  • Confidentiality and discretion, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding data protection procedures.
