Your Role
Join our dynamic and forward-thinking team at Stockport Council as a Legal Specialist focusing on Child Welfare. In this role, you will provide expert legal support within our esteemed Social Care Team, contributing to the welfare of children and families in our community. You will engage with complex and sensitive cases, ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality of legal assistance.
As part of our commitment to innovative practices, you will have the opportunity to be involved in pioneering initiatives such as the Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC), which has shown remarkable success in addressing care proceedings.
About You
We seek a motivated and skilled legal professional with a strong background in Child Welfare law. You should be adept at managing a diverse caseload and possess excellent advocacy skills. Your ability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining a high standard of work under pressure is essential.
In this role, you will:
- Provide comprehensive legal advice to support the People Directorate in fulfilling its responsibilities towards safeguarding vulnerable children.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and legal strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
