Part Time Finance Manager Job Description

This esteemed organisation, Howett Thorpe, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join their team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and be able to work effectively in a reputable SME business.

About The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company's finance function and reporting to the Managing Director. You will oversee one member of staff and work closely with external accountants. Additionally, you will support with HR queries and have experience working with multiple entities.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing accounts up to trail balance for external accountants to prepare statutory accounts
  • Producing monthly P&L reports for one company and monitoring costs and gross profit figures
  • Bank reconciliations for multiple companies
  • Preparing weekly and monthly payment runs for suppliers and subcontractors
  • Monthly and weekly payroll for two companies and handling staff expenses
  • Input of monthly/annual journals, such as payroll and auditors' adjustments
  • Managing the Purchase Ledger Assistant and ensuring all invoices are posted correctly
  • Building relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Processing new starters and ensuring all contracts are correct
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar position
  • Experience within an SME is essential
  • Working knowledge of Sage 50 & payroll
  • AAT/QBE candidates will be considered
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
