Role Responsibilities:

As the Manager of Residential Child Care Services, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and administration of a residential facility. Your duties will include strategic oversight, adherence to regulations, staff management, resource allocation, and ongoing service enhancement.

Key Duties:

  • Oversee the management of services, including staff supervision, care planning, safeguarding, communication, report generation, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of statutory and organizational policies, providing insights on their efficacy.
  • Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including relevant child care regulations and safety laws.
  • Develop and nurture constructive relationships within the community to enhance outcomes for children in care.
  • Ensure staff possess the necessary skills and qualifications to meet the diverse needs of each child.
  • Inspire and lead the team to create an aspirational environment for both children and staff.
  • Generate monitoring reports and statistical data in accordance with organizational guidelines and deadlines.
  • Embed principles of equality and diversity within the home's culture.
  • Tailor individual care plans to meet the specific needs of each child.
  • Maintain professional relationships with multi-agency teams and stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possession of a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent, or a commitment to obtain this qualification.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with children within the last five years, including at least one year in a senior role.
  • Experience in supervision or management.
  • Familiarity with working alongside children, young people, and their families.
  • Experience in a residential care setting.
  • Knowledge of inter-agency collaboration.
  • Understanding of relevant child care regulations and standards.
  • Awareness of child protection, safeguarding, and the needs of looked-after children.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Capacity to manage stress and navigate challenging dynamics.
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks related to the management of a residential facility.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively.
  • Fit to manage a children's home as per registration requirements.
  • Capability to address placement issues and prevent breakdowns.
  • Ability to monitor service quality in line with inspection requirements.
  • Skill in developing relationships with the community and multi-agency teams.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and diversity in accordance with relevant legislation.
