A dedicated educational institution in North Yorkshire is seeking a passionate and committed Special Needs Support Assistant with Moving & Handling certification.

This institution caters to students aged 11-19 who face severe and complex learning challenges, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties). The role focuses on assisting students with physical disabilities, making Moving and Handling training a crucial requirement.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to embark on a career in education, especially those with a background in care and support roles, particularly with experience in special educational needs and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the physical needs of students.
  • Provide both individual and group support.
  • Help implement personalized education plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to nurture a supportive atmosphere.
  • Support classroom activities and organization.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviors.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Moving & Handling.
  • Experience in a care or educational setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of how to assist individuals with Special Educational Needs and moderate to severe learning difficulties.
  • Team Teach training is advantageous but not essential.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 3:30), but part-time applicants are also welcome, as there are numerous similar roles available on a part-time or day-to-day basis.
  • Compensation is based on experience, ranging from £85 – £95 per day.
