We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operation of existing generating assets and the development of new projects for both tidal and battery energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with existing consent conditions and regulations.
- Act as the Environmental Clerk of Work for projects and serve as the primary point of contact with the Marine Directorate.
- Review, audit, and generate project documents as prescribed in Section 36 and Marine Licence consent conditions.
- Maintain project Consent registers for all projects, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate.
- Support the development of consent applications for BESS projects in England, Scotland, and Wales, as well as the expansion of Tidal Array projects.
- Contribute to the management of Health, Safety & Environmental risks across all operating locations.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to improve environmental risks and impacts.
- Attend marine works aboard Offshore Construction Vessels as the Environmental Clerk of Work, supporting the O&M Manager.
- Support project development across the portfolio, including Tidal Stream and BESS.
Requirements
- Education to degree level in a relevant discipline, with a second degree and/or practical experience being advantageous.
- Knowledge of consent processes and legislation relevant to project activities in the UK, including BESS & Tidal Array.
- Familiarity with statutory reports for Section 36 and Marine Licences.
- A strong desire to deliver a renewable and sustainable energy industry that considers environmental impact and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
- Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.
- An attention to detail and proficiency in writing procedures and quality documentation.
- A proactive approach to working and learning.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic environment, responding to changing demands to deliver project objectives.
- Ability to take the initiative, make sound decisions, and bring action.
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.
