Job Title: Industrial Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. As a key member of our Operations function, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and manufacturing complex carbon fibre structures for our F1 cars.

About the Role:

As a Composite Manufacturing Engineering IP, you will be responsible for creating manufacturing methods for complex carbon fibre structures, utilizing CATIA 3D Experience to turn designed parts and drawings into individual plies for our laminators. You will also implement our detailed training programme to produce laser projections for accurate ply placement and design tooling to improve part quality.

As a Composite Machining IP, you will work collaboratively with a small group to improve our planning and manufacturing processes, enhance our tools and methodologies, or solve problems with our car manufacturing. Your duties will include developing processes in manufacture such as planning machine workload, digitized check sheet processes, and introducing new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop manufacturing methods for complex carbon fibre structures
  • Utilize CATIA 3D Experience to create individual plies for laminators
  • Implement training programme to produce laser projections for accurate ply placement
  • Design tooling to improve part quality
  • Collaborate with team to improve planning and manufacturing processes
  • Develop processes in manufacture such as planning machine workload and digitized check sheet processes

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in manufacturing processes and problem-solving
  • Ability to share ideas and understand the points of view of others
  • Passion for process engineering and manufacturing
  • Good university results demonstrating commitment and diligence
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles relevant to manufacturing engineering
  • Open and honest communication style, enjoying collaboration in a team setting
  • Ability to work independently, applying attention to detail and dependable judgment
