London, United Kingdom The Lawyer Full time

About The Lawyer...

We have cultivated some of the most skilled business reporters in the UK: could you be our next star? The Lawyer is an award-winning publication providing news, analysis, and business intelligence to the influential commercial legal sector, establishing itself as a global digital brand with numerous annual events. It is celebrated for its forward-thinking content and senior readership, consistently recognized for its leading journalism, insights, and data.

The Lawyer is acknowledged as one of the premier starting points for a journalistic career, offering unmatched hands-on training. Our alumni have progressed to major news organizations worldwide, but we also provide ample opportunities for advancement within The Lawyer into more senior roles.

How You'll Contribute to Our Success...

The reporter will be tasked with uncovering stories within the dynamic City legal sector, crafting news and analysis based on The Lawyer's proprietary research and other pertinent data. They will collaborate closely with the senior editorial team and will be eager to develop a robust understanding of business trends. A particular emphasis will be placed on litigation or corporate transactions—fast-paced areas ripe for exclusive stories.

This position is ideal for an ambitious journalist—whether at entry level or seeking to advance their career—who desires the autonomy to discover stories and build industry connections. The role entails meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines and representing The Lawyer at industry events.

  • You'll identify stories within data and collaborate with the research team to develop insights, proactively establishing contacts with external data providers.
  • You'll relish the challenge of asking tough questions to influential figures in the legal field.
  • You'll participate in The Lawyer's social media efforts, generating content for relevant platforms.
  • You'll work with The Lawyer's broader team on event-related content as necessary.
  • You'll thrive in a collaborative environment, sharing information freely.
