Job Overview

The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operational activities and managing both operatives and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with all company policies, procedures, and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained on site, organizing and coordinating resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Conduct inductions for all employees and subcontractors, followed by toolbox talks to reinforce safety practices.
  • Implement the United Way of working, ensuring adherence to contract delivery processes in daily operations.
  • Maintain project-related documentation in accordance with the United Way IMS and Project Filing Guide.
  • Identify and implement critical success factors for the project, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitor quality and program standards, conducting regular reviews to address any issues promptly.
  • Review and coordinate contract drawings and specifications for all work sections.
  • Maintain accurate records of requests for information, verbal instructions, and any delays to protect the company's liabilities.
  • Identify and requisition necessary site equipment, plant, and materials to ensure project completion.
  • Communicate regularly with the Line Manager regarding site progress and any issues affecting the contract program.
  • Develop short-term programs for all trades to meet main program deadlines.
  • Facilitate weekly subcontractor progress and planning meetings, documenting minutes.
  • Keep detailed daily records of site activities to ensure accountability.
  • Supervise the implementation of safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external departments to ensure smooth site operations and timely resolution of issues.
  • Ensure all operatives and subcontractors are equipped with appropriate PPE during site activities.
  • Verify that all operatives and subcontractors are adequately trained to operate relevant plant and equipment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of contract terms and obligations.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to stay informed about the financial status of the contract and agree on scopes for subcontract packages.
  • Review day work sheets with the site Quantity Surveyor before approval.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus and engage in initiatives that support the local community and the company's corporate social responsibility.
  • Promptly issue quality control notices to subcontractors as needed.
  • Manage a variety of works including roofing, window and door replacements, insulation, fire stopping, drainage, structural repairs, and upgrades in electrical and mechanical systems.
Qualifications
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Current driving license
  • SMSTS certification
  • First Aid at Work certification (desirable)
  • Fire Marshall certification (desirable)
