Collaboration and Travel: You will collaborate with a distinguished team and have opportunities for international travel, particularly across Europe. Your contributions to modelling frameworks and data development will position you well for a promising career in this dynamic field.

Engagement with Stakeholders: Working closely with esteemed project teams, partner governments, and international organizations, you will leverage your quantitative, software development, communication, and project management skills to deliver impactful energy system design insights and tools that will leave a lasting legacy.

Model Development: You will be responsible for the development and application of energy systems modelling tools, engaging with partner countries at a senior level to co-create modelling solutions that address their specific needs while also contributing to cutting-edge research.

Academic Contributions: As part of the research team, you will support various academic activities, including supervising MSc and MEng students, facilitating communications, and participating in other initiatives as required. Publishing your research in high-impact journals and conferences will be a key aspect of your role, allowing you to build a network of peers and collaborators.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field related to energy systems modelling, or nearing completion with strong skills applicable to the role.
  • Experience in structured software development using recognized tools and workflows, such as Git/GitHub, along with coding proficiency in languages like Python, SQL, and GAMS.
  • Demonstrated skills in energy systems modelling, with a background in building and applying models aimed at future technology deployment for climate change mitigation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and motivate collaborators effectively.
  • A proven track record of publishing impactful research articles in reputable journals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing research team, contributing to both individual and group tasks.
