We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for dissecting surgical specimens, selecting tissue samples for histopathology reports, and maintaining a high level of expertise in dissection and examination of bone and soft tissue surgical specimens.
Key Responsibilities- Dissecting all surgical specimens with precision and accuracy
- Selecting the areas of tissue to sample for histopathology reports
- Freezing representative normal and tumour tissue for the tissue bank store
- Creating macro descriptions of samples using the digital dictation system
- Maintaining highly developed skills and experience in dissection and examination of bone and soft tissue surgical specimens
- Ensuring all specimens for decalcification are monitored regularly and processed as soon as possible
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A BSc degree or equivalent in biological/biomedical sciences or a related subject
- Experience of carrying out routine laboratory tasks by following SOPs
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite and database searching
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
