Job Title: Management Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our team at St George's Weybridge, a leading independent co-educational Catholic day school in Surrey. As a key member of the Finance team, you will be responsible for leading a team of 4 staff and influencing the role of the Management Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day running and activities of the Finance team, managing workload and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Manage electronic archiving and control information on the Accounts drive.
  • Ensure staff work within Finance Policies and Procedures as set by the Board of Governors.
  • Act as the first point of contact for technical accounting matters.
  • Support the development of the Finance team by providing day-to-day support, training, and opportunities for development.
  • Arrange personal development reviews and external training when necessary.
  • Identify initiatives to increase automation and technology use in finance processes.
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts packs from Sage and present to the Director of Finance.
  • Support the Director of Finance in compiling the overall School budget and ensuring nominal accounts are reconciled.
  • Manage the fixed asset module and ensure depreciation is posted to Sage.
  • Support the Director of Finance in capex budgeting and accounting treatment for fixed assets.
  • Oversee daily posting of bank transactions and ensure bank reconciliations are prepared.
Requirements:
  • Professional financial qualification such as CIMA or ACCA.
  • Previous experience in finance work in education, preferably in the independent sector.
  • Sage 200 Accounting program or similar.
  • Understanding of charitable accounting and legislation.
  • Understanding of GDPR and relevant financial legislation.
  • Experience in preparation, execution, and presentation of management accounts.
  • Management experience.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the Catholic school environment and independent school sector.
  • Commitment to providing a quality service and high level of customer care.
