Financial Director

The Football Foundation, in partnership with Robertson Bell, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to lead their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support the organization's charitable objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's vision, including treasury management and long-term cash flow planning.
- Lead and collaborate with the Senior Management Team, Management Group, and Data & Insight team to create and maintain financial and cost models to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Develop high-level models to inform strategic and operational decision-making, including assessment of financial sustainability and monthly reporting to funders.
- Oversee the development and transition of the finance team from a transactional to a forward-looking information-providing team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, Charity Commission, and other statutory financial returns.
- Lead and manage the finance team, motivating and developing them to be focused, competent, and effective.
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.
- Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the entire finance function, including hands-on experience in delivering business partnering.
- Knowledge of the legislative, tax, and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
- Leading an end-to-end external audit process.
- Developing and improving financial procedures and controls.
The position will be based at The Football Foundation's head office at Wembley Stadium, with an average of 2 visits per week to the office, dependent on business need.
