Financial Director

The Football Foundation, in partnership with Robertson Bell, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to lead their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support the organization's charitable objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization's vision, including treasury management and long-term cash flow planning.
- Lead and collaborate with the Senior Management Team, Management Group, and other stakeholders to create and maintain financial and cost models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develop high-level financial models to assess the financial sustainability of grant applications and provide monthly reporting to funders.
- Oversee the transition of the finance team from a transactional to a forward-looking information-providing team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT, and other financial returns.
- Lead and manage the finance team, motivating and developing them to achieve their full potential.
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.
- Proven experience at a senior level in a finance role with responsibility across the entire finance function, including business partnering.
- Knowledge of the legislative, tax, and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
- Experience leading an end-to-end external audit process.
- Ability to develop and implement financial procedures and controls.
The position will be based at The Football Foundation's head office at Wembley Stadium, with an average of 2 visits per week to the office, dependent on business need.
