About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Director to join our team at Apex Resourcing Solutions Ltd. As a key member of our engineering services team, you will be responsible for leading the development and design of engineering project services, as well as managing a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out cost and profit analysis on projects, including feasibility studies and preparation of project fee proposals
  • Working closely with clients and project teams to establish project requirements
  • Developing and specifying applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services
  • Surveying, testing, and reporting on existing electrical and mechanical installations
  • Leading the monitoring of construction and installation on projects
  • Liaising with existing clients to establish long-term relationships and future projects
  • Liaising with future client prospects and general business development
  • Representing the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors
  • Carrying out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet industry and legal standards
  • Supporting clients in tender and procurement of MEP contractors and equipment
  • Leading the coordination of engineering services and delivering concept and details designs
  • Mentoring and developing younger members of the engineering team
  • Producing technical white papers to promote the company's technical capabilities
  • Surveys and due diligence reports of existing data centers
  • Presenting technical papers at industry events
  • Taking a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions

Requirements

  • BSc/BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HND/HNC + appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Experience of data center or mission-critical projects is a distinct advantage
  • Significant experience of specification design for a range of building types
  • Experience of managing projects abroad is desirable
  • Sound knowledge and working application of key health and safety issues and legislation
  • Appreciation and working knowledge of contract and business law
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Good understanding of BS standards, UK regulations, and codes
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Background in consulting or construction is preferred
