Deputy Manager Job Description

YHA Ambleside is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Hostel Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the hostel and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Hostel Manager in achieving targets across all aspects of hostel operation, including food and beverage.
  • Maximise revenue while controlling expenditure.
  • Manage a team of employees and occasional volunteers.
  • Contribute to the team effort in the day-to-day operation of the hostel, undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks.

Requirements:

  • Flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks.
  • Previous leadership experience and experience managing budgets.
  • Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, timekeeping, and basic IT skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of YHA's core purpose and experience of working in a team.
