Job Summary:

Spencer Clarke Group is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Design Technology Specialist to join our team. As a specialist in Resistance Materials, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons to students across Key Stages 3-4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and challenging lessons in Design Technology with a focus on Resistance Materials.
  • Equip students with knowledge and practical skills in areas such as woodwork, metalwork, and plastics.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, hands-on experimentation, and the development of problem-solving abilities.
  • Support and guide students in completing design projects from concept to creation, ensuring safe use of tools and machinery.
  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work, ensuring they meet curriculum objectives and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives.
  • Keep up to date with advancements in technology, materials, and teaching methodologies to maintain high standards of instruction.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are rigorously applied in the workshop and classroom environments.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Specialisation or extensive experience in Resistance Materials (wood, metal, and plastics).
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary school level, including GCSE and A-level.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations related to workshop practices.
