Position Overview

As a pivotal member of our Group Commercial & Supply Chain division, the Supply Chain Optimization Expert will report directly to the Project Lead. This role is essential in driving initiatives that enhance supply chain capabilities, streamline operations, and refine both short and long-term commercial strategies at the site and group levels. The position encompasses a blend of analytical, strategic, and operational responsibilities, focusing on identifying inefficiencies, prioritizing improvements based on impact, and fostering collaboration across functions and borders to support the company's working capital goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and propose enhancements aimed at boosting operational efficiency and reducing costs, while establishing relevant KPIs and targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create precise demand forecasts grounded in historical data and anticipated changes.
  • Work with site teams to devise and implement effective inventory management strategies that optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Conduct regular assessments of inventory to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and recommend suitable actions.
  • Adjust inventory strategies to align with evolving demand patterns and seasonal variations.
  • Oversee transportation and logistics operations, including shipment management, freight cost control, and delivery schedule tracking.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process streamlining in order processing, procurement, and demand fulfillment to enhance productivity.
  • Engage with third-party software providers to ensure business requirements are met across sites while implementing new solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to supply chain operations.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management is required. General Management degrees may also be considered with appropriate work experience.

Experience & Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex, cross-border supply chains, preferably within the mining sector.
  • Relevant background in industries such as mining, engineering, or oil and gas is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and systems is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems, along with strong analytical skills, is essential.

Other Requirements:

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented individuals with a strong sense of ownership and comfort in ambiguous situations are preferred.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment are crucial.
  • Willingness to travel to various global sites and potentially engage in short-term overseas assignments.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is highly regarded.
