General Cover Teacher Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable General Cover Teacher to join our team at a 'Good' Ofsted-rated school in Thetford, Norfolk. As a General Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons across various subjects, maintaining a well-organised and professional classroom, and working effectively with other members of staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to the needs of students across different year groups and subjects.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and productive learning environment, ensuring that all necessary resources are available and utilised effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas to enhance the learning experience.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to the school's policies and procedures, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Have recent mainstream school-based experience as a General Cover Teacher or teaching.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
  • Classroom Management: Demonstrate good classroom and behaviour management skills.
