About the Role

Agricarbon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Soil Scientist to join our team and contribute to our mission of unlocking the value of carbon sequestration for soil, farm, and climate health.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Interrogate the data held by Agricarbon and others to further develop the field, analytical and modeling methods and approaches to monitoring change in soil carbon stocks at different scales, including accuracy, reliability, and cost-efficiency in varied use cases.
  2. Research and Development: Reveal critical insights into the impacts of regenerative and other farming practices and land use changes on soil carbon stocks worldwide, including risks to permanence and the potential for, and dynamics of, change over time.
  3. Client Support: Support selected client projects where deeper interpretation of the findings will yield new insights of value to the customer, to Agricarbon, or to the wider community.
  4. Knowledge Sharing: Publicize findings to advance scientific knowledge, to support soil-restorative farming and land use, and to guarantee that a solid foundation of evidence underpins soil carbon removals markets, regulations, and policies.
Requirements
  1. Masters or PhD level qualifications in Soil Science or closely related fields, or with a combination of relevant education and practical experience.
  2. Expertise in soil carbon science, ideally with experience in agricultural systems.
  3. Understanding of pedology, soil surveying, and soil classification.
  4. Practical experience in field sampling and laboratory analysis of soil carbon.
  5. Experimental design and execution (field and/or laboratory).
  6. Experience with statistical analyses and/or modeling to investigate soil carbon questions, ideally for agricultural management, with proficiency in R, Matlab, or other software for handling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  7. Experience with the publication and presentation of scientific results.
