Position Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to become a part of the Customer Operations division as a Credit Controller, focusing on our industrial, commercial, small, and micro business clientele. Reporting directly to the Cash and Collections Manager, your role will be pivotal in supporting our organization's objective to minimize bad debt exposure and meet collections goals.

Key Responsibilities

As a Credit Controller, your responsibilities will include:
  • Enhancing collections efficiency through a high volume of outbound and inbound communications via phone and email.
  • Delivering exceptional collections results for assigned accounts, aimed at reducing and maintaining aged debt levels.
  • Conducting thorough account, billing, and payment assessments to facilitate collection or corrective measures.
  • Collaborating effectively with customers to ensure timely debt reduction in alignment with established targets.
  • Addressing queries promptly, ensuring they are managed efficiently within service level agreements to secure payments from clients.
  • Coordinating with other departments for assistance when necessary to optimize dispute resolution timelines.
  • Performing Land Registry and other investigative inquiries to ascertain liability and manage accounts to resolution.
  • Mitigating credit risk for Shell Energy UK and escalating issues as necessary to the Cash & Collections Manager.
  • Completing ad hoc tasks to achieve monthly collection objectives.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in B2B debt recovery techniques.
  • Experience in the Commercial Utility sector (Gas/Electricity) is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly over the phone, combined with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to make informed decisions and perform effectively under pressure.
  • High level of commercial awareness.
  • Self-motivated with effective time management skills.
  • Experience in managing high-volume collections.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to learning and skill development.
  • A positive, enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach to daily responsibilities.
